A 15-minute story and song program for newborns to three-year-olds, followed by a 45-minute playtime. 

Find us at parks around the city from Monday, June 8 to Friday, Aug. 7 for books, games, fun, and a few surprises, too.

Join the all-ages meeting of the Cedar Rapids Chess Club from 5:30 to 7:30 pm weekly on Wednesdays at the Downtown Library for a relaxed, casual session playing this great universal game.

Join us for a beginner level chair yoga class. Instructor Tammy Bayer will adapt the class as needed to fit your needs and mobility levels. 

Each group will get their own set of random LEGOs to complete a series of build challenges set by our librarian. Work together and have fun with this laid-back activity.

Purchase new and gently used books from the Friends of the Cedar Rapids Public Library during Downtown Cedar Rapids Farmers Markets. Browse the books in front of the Downtown Library while shopping the market.

This class will provide the first hour of training necessary for becoming a certified learner on the 3D printer. There will be demonstrations of how to use the software and the printers.

Stop by every other Thursday for various STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, & math) projects, while supplies last. Activities subject to change.

Create a beautiful cross-stitch piece to hang on your wall using a peg board and yarn. Participants will learn the basics of cross-stitch and follow a pattern (rose pattern pictured) to create a wall hanging.

Take inspiration from the classic board game "Snail's Pace Race" to create your own board game! Using a basic template, decorate and customize your own race-themed board and pieces. Materials will be provided while supplies last.

Bring your favorite mug and enjoy a cuppa while discussing books with fellow readers at our new book club.

Builders are invited to construct and create with LEGO and KEVA blocks. Activities will include both challenges and free play. Geared to K-5th graders.
