Library Account Notifications
You may choose notifications by email, text, or phone. You’re automatically enrolled in some notifications when you sign up for a library card.
Email notices contain detailed information about account activity, including titles and due dates. Get notified when:
- Holds are ready for pickup, expired, or cancelled
- Items are almost due
- Items are overdue
Please add info@crlibrary.org to your addressbook to assist in delivery of email notifications.
Text Notifications
Opt-in to receive a text message when holds are ready for pick up, items are due back soon, or are overdue.
You may opt-in to text messages by going into My Account and updating your preferences under your Profile. The Profile tab is located in My Bookshelf next to the Fines and Fees tab.
You must provide the library with the name of your cell phone carrier in order to receive text notifications. An easy way opt-in to text notifications, text “Please sign me up for text messages” to ilsservice@crlibrary.org. This will tell the library the carrier you are using in case you are not sure.
PLEASE NOTE: The library does not charge a fee for this service, but your cell phone plan's regular text-messaging rates apply.
Phone Notifications
To receive library account notifications via phone, you must provide the library with your phone number. Local numbers only. To sign up for phone notification, please call the library at (319) 261-7323 or speak with a staff member when visiting the library.
*Please note that this service is not recommended as this service can be less user friendly than the email or text options.
Notification FAQs
When you sign up for a library card, staff may ask you how you want to be notified. If you provide an email address, you will automatically receive email notifications unless you have selected a different option.
If you do not have an email address, you will automatically receive notifications over the phone.
If you provide neither an email address or a phone number, you will receive print notifications only for items which are overdue more than 30 days.
You can update your notification preferences in your account by going to your profile and editing it. You will find the profile option under My Bookshelf once you have logged into your account.
