Nov. 26, 2024 – The holiday season is here, and the library has several winter programs to help celebrate.

Friends of the Library Very Cherry Holiday Sale  

Purchase new and gently used giftable books in support of the Friends of the Cedar Rapids Public Library during the Very Cherry Holiday event. Proceeds support literacy programs in our community.

Snowy Story Time 

Celebrate the wonders of snow with stories, songs, and parachute activities.

Tree Lighting Activities 

Come to the library before attending the city tree lighting in Greene Square for activities including festive crafts.

Merry TubaChristmas 

Embrace the season with this concert of holiday music performed by dozens of local tuba players. Audience members are welcome to bring their own chairs as seating is limited. Those who wish to play can register to participate online at CRTubaChristmas.com

Dance to the Nutcracker 

Join us for an active music-making class with Carly Schieffer of Orchestra Iowa's Music Together as participants are guided through the story through creative movement. An overview of the story will be shared through children’s literature.

“Home Alone” with Cocoa, Crafts, & Gift Wrapping 

Enjoy this holiday favorite along with cocoa and crafts. Bring any presents you haven't had time to wrap. We will have some wrapping paper and supplies, but feel free to bring your own and maybe even trade with other attendees. Registration recommended but not required.

New Year Welcome! 

Welcome the New Year with a family friendly celebration that includes dancing, crafts, button-making, bubbles and more.
