The Friends of the Cedar Rapids Public Library big annual book sale is returning with a new location, moving to the Downtown Library, 450 Fifth Ave. SE.

The sale will be 9 am-5 pm Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4 & 5, and 1-5 pm Sunday, Nov. 6.

The community is invited to get an early start on holiday shopping or stock up on fall reads at this sale of gently used books and collectibles. All proceeds benefit literacy programs supported by the Friends.

"We are intentional in hosting our big sale in the fall. The leaves are falling, the temperature is dropping, and it's the perfect time to curl up with a good book!" said Libby Slappey, President of the Friends of the Cedar Rapids Public Library.

The Friends will also sell books during the annual Very Cherry holiday open house at the Cherry Building, 329 10th Ave. SE, on Saturday, Dec. 3, 9 am-4 pm.

Books for purchase are always available at the Book Nooks at both Cedar Rapids Public Library locations for $2 each.

Private appointments are also available to “shop the stacks” in the Friends’ Sorting Center at the Downtown Library, where there are thousands of $1, $2, and $3 books, as well as individually priced books & collectibles. Email crfriends@gmail.com for an appointment.

The Friends of the Cedar Rapids Public Library support the Cedar Rapids Public Library by contributing funds to the library’s literacy outreach programs and raising community awareness of and participation in the library’s programs and services.
