April is National Poetry Month, and we wanted to showcase some new poetry for adults in the library's collection.

From "Respect the Mic: Celebrating 20 Years of Poetry From a Chicagoland High School," an anthology that collects poetry from the students and alumni of Chicago's Oak Park River Forest High School Spoken Word Club to "Bless the Daughter Raised by a Voice in Her Head," by Warsan Shire, a mediation on coming-of-age, womanhood, immigration, and mothers and daughters, these books reflect a wide range of experiences and inner lives on the page.
