Nick Johnson, founder of Missing Link Artistry, brings a mix of woodcut printmaking, screen printing and charcoal drawings to our Third Floor Gallery this summer.

In his own words:

"I am a multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer, currently located in Marion. I’ve always been fascinated by folklore; whether it’s the creatures, the morals in the stories, or how these often dark stories are passed down through time. In a similar vein, I love analog horror, psychological thrillers, and things that make you think. Outside of making art, I love food, travel, and live music (especially supporting local acts) as ways to nourish my creative side.

"As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become more and more vocal in supporting various marginalized communities and standing up against injustices around me. My identity is inherently political in a few ways, and as an artist I can’t not be hyperaware of the world around me. At my core, though, I try not to take life too seriously. I’m known for harvesting out-of-context quotes from conversations with friends and turning them into stickers. I’m a huge animal lover, and try to find a little whimsy wherever I can.

"I also struggle with mental health and physical disability. Through my work in this realm, regardless of medium, I attempt to portray the realities of living with treatment-resistant issues while also bringing a little levity. Recently, I described my printmaking style as 'German Expressionism by way of a lack of dexterity and severe mental health issues.' This all culminates in my brand, Missing Link Artistry: socially aware cryptids, a retro vibe, and thoroughly offbeat humor."

This exhibit will run from June through August 2026.
