Program Description

Event Details

Helen Hunter bloomed late as an artist. Believing that we should continue to learn throughout our life, Helen took four watercolor lessons in Florida and after each - with much laughter - she shared what she had painted with her husband.

Determined, however, to improve, she searched out a local teacher. What you see in this exhibit is the result of almost 20 years of learning and painting. Helen has received blue, red, yellow and white ribbons at various Art Shows and Fairs, both in Iowa and in Florida. She has taken artist workshops with Terry Madden, Tom Lynch and Karlyn Holman.

Helen is a member of Iowa Artists and Creative Artists. She paints with friends on a regular basis.

Prior to learning to paint, Helen authored three books and published numerous articles and stories in magazines and newspapers. At the age of 60, Helen graduated from Mount Mercy University with a degree in English literature.

She plays golf and bowls in a mixed league in her spare time.

Helen is the widow of Bud Hunter and has three children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

This exhibit will run from May through August 2025.
