Fix It Café

Handy library volunteers and local nonprofits will give patrons the opportunity to get hands-on practice with basic home maintenance and repair. Ask questions of people with years of home repair experience, get lists of materials and tools, and connect with informational resources that will empower you to do minor home repair and lawn and garden preparation. There will also be a basic tool practice area where teens, youth, and those new to using power and hand tools can practice their skills!

Participating organizations include:

• Chain Reaction will demonstrate basic bike maintenance and highlight their Earn-a-Bike program.
• Linn County Master Gardeners will share seasonal gardening information and answer lawn and garden questions.
• Cedar Rapids Public Library volunteers will demonstrate skills like repairing and replacing caulk or grouting techniques and using basic tools.
