Local Tax Preparation Assistance – Suspended until further notice
As coronavirus (COVID-19) Developments change hour by hour AARP Foundation is doing its part to flatten the curve of transmission. A top priority for us is ensuring we are protecting those most at risk, including our volunteers and taxpayers.
Therefore, we are suspending AARP Foundation Tax-Aide services beginning March 16th until further notice. We will continue to assess whether we can open again in some or all sites for the remainder of the tax season and if the tax season is extended.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide February 3 through April 10, by appointment only, call 2-1-1 (or 319-739-4211 or 1-866-469-2211) to schedule; located at the Downtown Cedar Rapids Public Library from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm Monday-Wednesday; free tax preparation help to anyone. If you’re 50 and older and can’t afford a tax preparation service, they are especially for you!
VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), will be onsite at the Opportunity Center at Ladd Library each Tuesday/Thursday from 1-5 pm beginning January 28 until April 9. Please call 2-1-1 (or 319-739-4211 or 1-866-469-2211) to schedule an appointment
VITA Drop Off: The Opportunity Center is a location for taxpayers to drop off their materials (takes about 15 minutes) and two weeks later pick up their returns to be signed and filed. Taxpayers wishing to use this service must bring ALL their tax documentation to the drop off site. Drop offs will be accepted from January 28 through March 26, 2020. No appointment necessary.
