Masks Required in Library, Other City Buildings

To maximize protection from COVID-19, all visitors to City-owned buildings, including the library, will be required to wear a mask while inside the building effective Monday, July 18, 2022. The policy applies to all visitors, whether they are vaccinated or not vaccinated.

The CDC has classified the Community Level of COVID-19 transmission “high” for Linn County. The CDC recommends those in areas with high transmission wear masks indoors in public, regardless of vaccination status. As of July 15, the Linn County area is coded ‘red,’ signifying a high level of community transmission.

The health and safety of visitors to City buildings is our primary concern. This policy is in accordance with both CDC and Linn County Public Health recommendations.

The library will have masks available at entrances. Masks will be required by everyone age 2 and over who enters the building. We appreciate your understanding as we continue to do all we can to keep the library safe and open to all.

Curbside holds are still available by appointment for anyone wishing to utilize a no-contact way of accessing library materials. Patrons may also access digital services via our Library at Home.

Library programs are subject to change. Some may be moved outdoors, weather permitting, or may be held virtually. Check https://events.crlibrary.org/events and the library’s social media for updates.

Additional library services continue to be open, including meeting rooms and browsing. Stay up to date on library services by visiting CRLibrary.org regularly.

The CDC also recommends people in communities with high levels of transmission stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines ,get tested if they have symptoms, and consider taking additional precautions if they are at high risk for severe illness.

Community levels of transmission are based on data including case rates and hospital beds in use by COVID-19 patients. The transmission level is calculated every Thursday.
