Continuing it’s hold at the top of the popular adult fiction checkouts for patrons at the Downtown library is The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave. This book has remained the most popular adult fiction checkout since October 2021. For patrons at Ladd, Debbie Macomber’s It’s Better This Way was the most popular item.

The top book in adult nonfiction for the Downtown Library was Atomic Habits by James Clear. This item has experienced a surge in popularity as it was published in 2018. More surprising though is the top adult nonfiction item for Ladd patrons. All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot has renewed popularity thanks to PBS/Masterpiece but was released in 1992!

The most popular young adult fiction title for Downtown also received a boost in popularity thanks to an adaptation. The 2012 work Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo has been enjoyed as a Netflix Original Series. Meanwhile the award-winning The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas makes the top of the list for Ladd patrons.

Yet another book from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney continues to hold the attention of Cedar Rapids children. This time, the eleventh book in the series, Double Down, is Downtown patron’s favorite. In a surprise twist, a different series takes the top spot for Ladd patrons. Dark Day in the Deep Sea, in the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne, proved to be the most popular.

The action comedy Free Guy starring Ryan Reynolds was the most popular DVD for patrons at the Downtown location. Meanwhile, the dark action superhero (villain?) movie, Venom: Let There Be Carnage proved to be most popular with Ladd patrons.

The Tom Hanks movie, News of the World, was the most popular Blu-ray checkout for patrons Downtown. The popularity of comic book movie adaptations continued for Ladd patrons. The top Blu-ray checkout was Avengers: Endgame.
