With the new year, the Library is bringing back in-person story times.
In-person Mother Goose on the Loose and Early Learning Story Time kick off the first week of January at the Downtown Library.
Participants need to register in advance, with story times limited to 10 families per session. Registration for each session can be found at https://events.crlibrary.org/events. Social distancing will be encouraged. Masks are required in all city buildings, including the Library, for everyone ages 2 and over.
Early Learning Story Time is a fun-filled story time for designed for children ages 2-5, with stories, songs, and other interactive activities. It will be held in person at the Downtown Library from 10-10:30 am on January 4 & 18 and February 1 & 15.
Mother Goose on the Loose is an early literacy nursery rhyme program for newborns to three-year-olds designed to strengthen babies’ and toddlers’ foundation for literacy with rhymes, rhythm, songs, repetition, story, and movement. Playtime will be offered at the end of Mother Goose on the Loose for babies and toddlers. It will be held each Wednesday in January and February, from 9-10:30 am at the Downtown Library.
Virtual story time options remain. Early Learning Story Time will be repeated via Zoom from 10-10:30 am on January 11 & 25 and February 8 & 22 for those unable to attend the in-person events. Register to receive an email link to the Zoom session the day before the program. Recorded sessions of Mother Goose on the Loose can be viewed on the Library’s YouTube channel or Facebook page.
Caregivers can also sign up for the winter session of Zumbini, an 8-week class for newborns to four-year-olds. It will run 9:30-10 am on Fridays in January and February, beginning January 7. Created by Zumba and BabyFirst, the Zumbini program combines music, dance, and educational tools for 30 minutes of bonding, learning, and fun.
Each registered family will be able to pick up one Kalino Finds the Music bundle that includes a Kalino plush doll, songbook and digital access to the Kalino music collection. Participants should plan to attend as many of the 8-week session classes as possible. A welcome email with more information about the class and information on class policies and expectations will be sent out via email a week before the first session. Registrants will receive a link to the Zoom session with their welcome email. If community conditions allow, this program may be moved to an in-person format at Ladd Library.
