Meet the Cedar Rapids Public Library staff
One of the newest Library staff members is Programming Librarian Linden Galloway. He started at the Library at the end of July, and we wanted to introduce him as part of our ongoing series profiling Library staff.
What does your job typically include?
I just started, so mostly I have been doing training and shadowing so far, but I’m really excited to start story times, craft programs, and much more! I have already gotten to help out with summer outreach in the parks, which has been awesome.
What made you want to work here?
I loved everything I learned about the programming team, and I was excited to start working on all-ages programming.
What’s your favorite part about working here?
Talking to people is my favorite thing, and I get to do plenty of that every day!
Do you have any moments or stories from the Library that stand out that you would want to share with patrons?
One day at outreach in the park, a little kid came up to our table out of the blue and started reading a picture book to me. That made me really happy!
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I love to cook! A favorite thing I have made recently is French toast casserole.
What’s your favorite book genre? Why?
Science fiction, 100%, hands down. I love reading about totally new universes and fresh takes on Earth’s future. A ragtag crew of misfit heroes on a spaceship is my ideal cast of characters!
Do you have a favorite book or author? What do you like about them?
My favorite book changes A LOT, right now I’m really enjoying the Murderbot Diaries series by Martha Wells.
If you could pick a superpower, what would it be?
Teleportation! Not having to sit in a car for hours to go visit friends would be amazing.
