April 4-10 is National Library Week, and this year’s theme from the American Library Association is “Welcome to your library.”
Though the Cedar Rapids Public Library closed its doors in March 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, staff worked hard to pivot and find ways to keep welcoming patrons through digital services, curbside hold pickup, and virtual programming.
We have since reopened for grab and go services – patrons can come into the buildings to browse for up to 30 minutes or use computers for up to one hour – and staff continue working hard to make sure we are welcoming you as safely as we can, with masks, sanitation stations and social distancing.
So, this National Library week, we want to recognize the staff and volunteers who have worked to say, “Welcome to your Library,” even in unprecedented times. And we want to say thank you to all of our patrons and community members. We can’t wait until the day we can welcome everyone in fully.
