CHOMP Delivery service is now serving up your next great reads – directly to your door! Beginning Friday, October 30, 2020, CHOMP will offer doorstep delivery of Cedar Rapids Public Library holds to homes in the Cedar Rapids area for a small fee.
“The Library is always looking for opportunities to improve access for our community,” said Dara Schmidt, Cedar Rapids Public Library Director. “We are partnering with this local company to offer a new and convenient way for patrons to access physical items without leaving home.”
Once you are notified that your holds are available at the Downtown or Ladd Library, simply download the CHOMP app or visit chomp.delivery, enter your address, search for “library” and schedule your delivery. Charges vary and are based on distance to your location from the Library and can be paid directly on the app or via the website.
CHOMP is a locally owned delivery service which also offers doorstep delivery from several local restaurants and retailers.
For assistance, please call 319.261.READ. Please note that Library staff will not be able to fill out orders on CHOMP for patrons but can help answer questions.
“Physical materials can also be picked up in person or through our no-contact holds process,” said Schmidt. “We offer options for every comfort level to ensure a simple and safe experience for everyone. The Library will continue to explore options and respond to community needs to ensure our patrons can enjoy their next great read.”
Holds are also available using the Curbside Holds Pickup process, or patrons are welcome to visit the Library for grab and go holds just inside the buildings. Patrons may also choose to come into the Library for grab and go browsing in the stacks for up to 30 minutes. Please wait until you have are notified items are available before scheduling an appointment for curbside holds or CHOMP delivery
