I have just finished the latest Erik Larson book The Splendid and the Vile. It’s about the first year in Winston Churchill’s premiership. That year coincided with the London Blitz where German bombers pelted London and other British cities with bombs for weeks. I really like Larson’s works. He brings history alive and presents things in such a way as to make you feel like an observer of the events at hand. Another great thing he does is split the story between what’s going on both in England and Germany, with the emphasis on England since Churchill is the focus. It is nice to get both perspectives so you get a better understanding of the events. If you are a WWII buff, then this book will definitely appeal to you.
