February is Black History Month and we are kicking it off with a special event on Saturday, February 1, 2020. This is a wonderful opportunity for the Cedar Rapids Public Library to connect with partners in the community (such as the African American Museum of Iowa) and present a day of celebration and education. We’ll look through the lenses of history, literature, music and art to both remember and celebrate Black History and achievement.
The events scheduled are as follows:
11:30am-11:55am- Craft Station for children and Travelling Trunk exhibit presented by Sean Donaldson from the African American Museum of Iowa
1:35pm-2pm The Amen Choir Performance
12:00pm-12:30pm Professor S. Torriano Berry’s (Professor Emeritus, Howard University, MJF Department) presentation
1-1:30 pm- Caleb “The Negro Artist” Rainey Poetry
