Award-winning duo to perform in Cedar Rapids Public Library on Sunday, July 15th

Boston-based acoustic duo “Sweet Wednesday” will be performing at the Cedar Rapids Public Library at 2 pm on Sunday, July 15th, sharing exciting songs from their new CD “Escaping From the Pale Moonlight”.

Sweet Wednesday is on a national tour in support of the new CD, which has been garnering rave reviews in No Depression, MTV Partner Ourstage, and from live audiences. Characters wandering through the songs on the new record include a sailor lost at sea, a revolutionary war army deserter, and a young girl picking flowers along Route 66, whispering her astonishing story into the ears of fellow travelers.

The duo performs live with guitar, mandolin, harmonica, banjo, violin, vocals, and harmonies. Their folk/ roots rock story-songs have won them several awards (First Place: Great American Song Contest, First Place: Dallas Songwriters’ Association Contest, Runner Up: John Lennon Song Contest), and run the gamut thematically from humorous adventures to songs about serious issues such as loss of a loved one.

“Think about the last time you received an unexpected and totally delightful gift. That’s just how I felt when I heard the music of Sweet Wednesday. You’ll forgive the gushing when you hear the alt-country, folk, roots sound of the Boston-based duo known individually as Dave Falk and Lisa Housman. I didn’t think musicians made music this addictive anymore.” – Nancy Dunham, MTV Partner Ourstage

“Housman truly recalls Merchant in her 10,000 Maniacs Prime, and absolutely soars” –

Stacey Zering, No Depression

“You’ve succeeded in pushing the song form to something wonderful and new…Rarely have I encountered such incredible talent.”- Judges, Great American Song Contest

“Vital Roots Music of the very best kind!” – Freddy Celis, Roots Time Magazine
