I’m not one to read a lot of “young adult” offerings, but the summary of this book greatly intrigued me and I was not disappointed. This is the story of Eona a girl pretending to be a boy as she learns the skills that would make her a dragoneye, a person capable of communing with dragons and using their energies for the good of the land. She has to pretend to be a boy because girls are forbidden to become dragoneyes. After being selected by a long lost dragon, Eona finds that not only does she need to guard her secret, but lots of people are placing their hopes on her to thwart the designs of some rather corrupt individuals who will stop at nothing to gain power over the empire. Will she succeed? Read this book to find out! A richly imagined world that has strong Asian influences along with deeply realized characters await you in this book. An overall great read for those of you who like lots of magic and dragons in your reading fair.
