Policy 4.08 - Environmental Policy

To operate in an environmentally responsible manner, the library will observe the following practices.

  1. Require the use of recycled paper when possible on all contract printing.
  2. Discontinue the use of balloons in conjunction with programming and use environmentally sound alternatives.
  3. Reduce the amount and frequency of insect control applications in library facilities to the absolute minimum.
  4. Discontinue use of products with propellants harmful to the environment.
  5. Recycle discarded paper, outdated newspapers and periodicals used by the library.
  6. Recycle metal cans and plastic bottles when possible.
  7. Cooperate with environmental organizations and the city water department on displays and bookmarks discussing methods for protecting the groundwater supply and other pollution issues.
  8. Ensure that the collection has up-to-date information on environmental topics.

It is the intent of this policy that the library continue to review its practices for their impact on the environment.
