Policy 4.08 - Environmental Policy
To operate in an environmentally responsible manner, the library will observe the following practices.
- Require the use of recycled paper when possible on all contract printing.
- Discontinue the use of balloons in conjunction with programming and use environmentally sound alternatives.
- Reduce the amount and frequency of insect control applications in library facilities to the absolute minimum.
- Discontinue use of products with propellants harmful to the environment.
- Recycle discarded paper, outdated newspapers and periodicals used by the library.
- Recycle metal cans and plastic bottles when possible.
- Cooperate with environmental organizations and the city water department on displays and bookmarks discussing methods for protecting the groundwater supply and other pollution issues.
- Ensure that the collection has up-to-date information on environmental topics.
It is the intent of this policy that the library continue to review its practices for their impact on the environment.
