Learn the basic parts of your computer and how to use a computer mouse. Manage your computer so that you can locate and use what's on it. No computer experience necessary

Topics discussed in this class:

  1. What does a computer do?
    1. Receives input via the keyboard, mouse, joystick, other devices.
    2. Uses operating systems and applications to process input.
    3. Displays information/words/pictures/charts/sound via printers, monitors and speakers.
    4. Stores data on disks, CDs, USB drives, etc.
    5. Shares information over computer networks, email, etc.
  2. Overview of the computer desktop screen and its parts
    1. Icons
    2. Taskbar
    3. Toolbars
  3. Using your Mouse
  4. Manipulating your Window(s)
  5. If time, opening a file, cutting and pasting information into a file, saving a file and changing a file.
