Then let's get started! You will need to:
Once your application has been received and the background check process has been completed, you will be contacted by the Volunteer Coordinator to schedule an interview. Following the interview and reference check process, successful applicants will attend an orientation session and be provided with training for their new role with the Library.
It is our goal to match each volunteer with the best opportunity to meet his/her interests, skills, and availability!
The Cedar Rapids Public Library is thrilled to have youth volunteers as a part of our team. Volunteers age 14-17 are welcome to work independently in the Library. Volunteers under the age of 14 can volunteer alongside an older family member supervising them onsite. If volunteers under the age of 14 are volunteering with family members, all active family volunteers must complete the full volunteer application process. (The exception to these guidelines would be volunteers working as part of the Teen Advisory Group.)
Volunteers under the age of 18 are also required to complete the Parental Agreement Form (pdf) prior to volunteering.
Required Service Hour Volunteers
The Cedar Rapids Public Library welcomes eligible volunteers to work with the Library to fulfill required service hours (i.e. school or service requirements, court directed volunteer service). To be eligible, volunteers must complete the standard application process and be a proper fit for the Library's needs. The total number of hours available for an individual to volunteer will depend on the Library's schedule and needs.
