The Ladd Library, the new permanent branch of the Cedar Rapids Public Library, is scheduled to open to the public on Saturday, February 23, at 10:00 am. The current Westdale Mall location will close February 18-22 to make the transition to the new location at 3750 Williams Blvd SW.
“This is an exciting year for the Cedar Rapids Public Library,” said Library Director Bob Pasicznyuk. “We are opening a beautiful and efficient library on the city’s west side that will serve as our main library until later this year when we open our new downtown location. We know the community is looking forward to that day and we think the opening of Ladd Library is a great step towards establishing comprehensive library service in Cedar Rapids.”
The Ladd Library will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, February 23, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00 am inside the building. Following the ceremony, the community is invited to explore this new branch and see the many features it has to offer, including: two study rooms, a community room for more than 50 people, 20 public computers, free wifi, and a wonderful collection of books, movies and music.
The first story times at the Ladd Library will be held at 10:30 am and again at 1:30 pm. Story time will feature Mother Goose and friends sharing rhymes, puppets and fun! Clifford will join after each story time and every child attending can choose a book to take home.
The downtown branch of the Cedar Rapids Public Library, located in the Armstrong Centre, will be closed on President’s Day, February 18, but open regular hours the rest of the week.
