Union Pacific Railroad is scheduled to begin work on the installation of the 2nd Avenue railroad safety gates and crossing arms on Wednesday, May 30. 2nd Avenue will remain open at this time. Intermittent closures may occur as the project progresses on 2nd Avenue SE at the 4th Street railroad tracks.

The work is anticipated to take approximately 4 – 5 weeks, weather permitting. Following the completion of the gates and crossing arms at 2nd Avenue, Union Pacific will begin work on 4th Avenue and 5th Avenue.
Later this summer, following pavement and utility work, 4th Avenue and 5th Avenue SE will be converted to two-way traffic between 3rd Street and 5th Street SE.
The 5th Street and 5th Avenue intersection currently remains closed for utility improvements. This causes some parking and traffic concerns at the Downtown Library, so please be aware that it may be more difficult than normal. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. We will continue to provide updates as we receive them and encourage everyone to sign up for text alerts: www.cityofcr.com/subscribe.
