Cedar Rapids Public Library Board Approves Additional Hours Beginning July 1

April 6, 2018– The Cedar Rapids Public Library Board of Trustees voted on Thursday evening to approve additional hours for library access beginning July 1, 2018. The Downtown Library will be open on Sundays from 1 pm – 5 pm. The Ladd Library will be open an hour early on Monday-Thursday from 8 am – 9 am.

“Increasing library access has been a priority of the leadership since the hours were reduced in 2016,” said Dara Schmidt, Library Director. “We are grateful to the City Council and City leadership for their support and understanding of the value of library service in Cedar Rapids.”

Hours at both locations will change to the following on July 1:

Downtown Library
Monday – Thursday, 9 am – 8 pm
Friday – Saturday, 9 am – 5 pm
Sunday, 1 pm – 5 pm

Ladd Library
Monday – Thursday, 8 am – 8 pm
Friday , 9 am – 5 pm
Saturday, CLOSED
Sunday, 1 pm – 5 pm

“We will pilot these hours for FY2019 and continue to monitor library use to be sure we are providing the best possible service to our community,” said Schmidt.
