Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes is a psychological thriller that follows a young woman, Cathy, who was attacked by her ex-boyfriend, Lee. As she tries to deal with the aftermath from the attack and nearly being killed, she develops PTSD and OCD. The novel is split between the present and the past when she first met the man. In the present we learn about Cathy’s life, and how she copes with her PTSD and OCD. Cathy begins to heal after her upstairs neighbor encourages her to seek help and offer his own insight since he is a clinical psychologist. Cathy suffers a panic attack when she finds out her attacker is being released from prison in a few days. The reader continues to learn what happened to Cathy when she was attacked and all the horrific details. We see her overcome her struggles and what happens once Lee is released from prison. This novel is gripping and is sure to be a page turner that you won’t want to put down!
