The Cedar Rapids Public Library has partnered with the Matthew 25 Tool Library to offer a selection of books on home improvement, decorating and gardening for checkout at the Tool Library. The collection of more than 80 books includes several by Black and Decker, Country Living, House Beautiful, Stanley, Better Homes and Gardens, Martha Stewart and other publishers. Topics include kitchen design ideas, de-cluttering, canning and bottling, carpentry, basement remodeling, deck building, green living, energy efficiency, roofing, plumbing, rooms for kids and many more.
“There is still a lot of rebuilding in the neighborhood after the flood and homeowners are excited about new design possibilities,” says Katie Hackbarth, Tool Library manager. “I think this amazing collection of books will provide the inspiration and direction some homeowners are looking for. We’re very grateful for the Library’s involvement.”
The Matthew 25 Tool Library is a program of the Matthew 25 Ministry Hub. The mission of the Tool Library is to provide Cedar Rapids area residents with affordable access to the tools, resources and skills they need to repair, remodel and maintain their homes. The Tool Library has an extensive inventory of hand and power tools for various home maintenance and lawn and garden projects. Membership in the library is open to Cedar Rapids area residents for a sliding scale fee based on household size and income.
