The Complete Tightwad Gazette by Amy Dacyczyn was originally written as a series of newsletters. It contains tips and helps for saving money, doing-it-yourself ideas, and making do with what you have. Most content comes from Amy, and the rest from the readers of her newsletters. For instance: Amy shows how to compare the real hourly wage (and costs) of working outside the home as a second income (such as child-care costs and added taxes) vs. staying home. She also shows how to make a price book to track sales and regular prices of items at the stores you normally patronize (so you can buy almost everything on sale!). Some content will be out-of-date with tech advances such as high-speed internet and smart phones. But the information presented is both timely as we recover from the recession, and enjoyable, due to Amy’s wonderful sense of humor and her ability to get to the heart of the matter – that doing more with less, and working toward financial goals, can be interesting and fun. We own this book in print.
