The Cedar Rapids Public Library introduces Freegal, a service for cardholders that offers access to songs from Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists. The service will allow the Cedar Rapids Public Library to increase the size and diversity of its collection by offering access to hundreds of thousands of songs.
Cedar Rapids citizens with a library card can download up to three Sony Music tracks in the MP3 format each week at no cost via the Cedar Rapids Library website (www.crlibrary.org). Other libraries using this new service include the Princeton (NJ) Public Library, Maricopa County Library District (AZ), Orange County Public Library (FL), Nashville Public Library (TN) and Fairfield Public Library (CT).
“We have been waiting a long time for a service like this that delivers great music, compatibility with lots of devices and simplicity of use. We think this will be incredibly popular with our customers,” said Library Director Bob Pasicznyuk.
Freegal is available to all Cedar Rapids residents who have a library card. You must live in Cedar Rapids in order to have access to this service.
